Admissions Policy

City University of Hong Kong (Dongguan) is located at No. 8, Gaoxiong Road, Songshan Lake, Dongguan City, Guangdong Province. It is designed with the concepts of "unity," "wisdom," "diversity," "heritage," and "ecology." The campus is connected through a designed landscape platform, integrating natural landscapes represented by mountains and water bodies with artificial landscapes of architectural complexes. This not only creates a unique natural landscape of mountains and water, but also continues the open and inclusive cultural heritage of CityU. The campus masterfully manages the relationship between nature and humanities, cultural inheritance, and contemporary characteristics, creating an international modern university campus that blends natural landscapes with Lingnan characteristics. Currently, the Upper Campus mainly includes the School of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences, School of Business, School of Engineering, School of Sciences and Humanities, School of Creative Media, the Seventh College, staff dormitories, service centers, fitness rooms, outdoor tennis courts, basketball courts, volleyball courts, and other supporting facilities. The Middle Campus is a green area with motor vehicle roads and greenways connecting the Upper and Lower Campuses, and it borders the Dayun Natural Park. The Lower Campus primarily comprises administrative buildings, the library, teaching buildings, laboratories, the Shaw International Conference Centre, indoor sports venues, the Student Center, the Shaw College, the Integrated Teaching Building, the International Academic Exchange Center, the Integrated Experimental Building, an outdoor track and field, and supporting sports facilities (newly constructed).

The four undergraduate majors offered for the first-ever recruitment are: Computer Science and Technology, Materials Science and Engineering, Smart Manufacturing Engineering, and Energy and Power Engineering.

Accommodation in our school is divided into quadruple rooms for two people or quadruple rooms for one person. The dormitory rooms are equipped with beds, wardrobes, bookcases, desks, chairs, air conditioning and other facilities. The accommodation fee is 1,200 RMB/year for a 2-person dormitory and 2,000 RMB/year for a one-person dormitory.

In 2024, the school will accept the first batch of undergraduate courses or the ordinary batch of undergraduate courses after the merger of first and second courses from 10 provinces (autonomous regions and municipalities) including Guangdong, Beijing, Sichuan, Fujian, Inner Mongolia, Shaanxi, Yunnan, Guangxi, Hubei, and Henan. The college entrance examination admission model selects candidates based entirely on their college entrance examination scores.

The specific announcement by the examination institution shall prevail.

The first batch of undergraduates or the general batch of undergraduates after the first and second batches are combined will be admitted according to the general college entrance examination admission model, and will be admitted based entirely on the candidates' college entrance examination scores.

Please refer to the cut-off score of the City University of Hong Kong in mainland provinces. Take the 2023 scores as an example:

Guangdong Physics: the lowest score is 641, the lowest ranking is 6260 (102 points for the high special control line);

Sichuan Science: The lowest score is 626, and the lowest ranking is 11181 (99 points in the first line of high school).

City University of Hong Kong (Dongguan) does not consider extra points in admissions.

City University of Hong Kong (Dongguan) uses English as the main teaching language, and ideological and political education, general studies and Chinese courses will be taught in Chinese (Putonghua).

Admission is not divided into majors. You can choose your major as a freshman and you can freely change majors twice a year.

The target audience of the IANG for Non-local Graduates Immigration Arrangements (IANG) has now been expanded from graduates of Hong Kong campuses to graduates of Hong Kong tertiary institutions on campuses in the Greater Bay Area, with no quota limit and a 24-month limit of stay for the initial visa. That is, graduates of City University of Hong Kong (Dongguan) can apply for employment visas in Hong Kong, which broadens the employment channels for our students.

It is recommended that candidates give priority to applying to City University of Hong Kong (Dongguan) among the first batch of applications to increase the possibility of admission. At the same time, candidates should reasonably plan the gradient of their majors and choose "subject to major adjustments" when filling in their applications to increase their chances of being admitted.

Our school plans to offer three categories of undergraduate, master’s and doctoral programs:

1. 4+2 Bachelor’s and Master’s program, requirements: Admission to City University of Hong Kong (Dongguan) and GPA no less than 3.3 (4.3 is required)
2. 3+1+1 direct master's degree program, requirements: obtain freshman entrance scholarship and GPA no less than 3.3 (4.3 is required)
3. 3+1+N direct PhD program, requirements: obtain a freshman scholarship or obtain a national gold, silver or bronze medal in the National Middle School Olympiad (Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Informatics) Competition, and at the same time, have a GPA of no less than 3.3 (4.3 is required)
